BLACK AND WHITE FILM PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Where: The Hawaii Darkroom, 166 Kamehameha Ave., Suite 8, Hilo

When: 8 a.m. today

Details: Learn the complete process. Leave with a handmade print. This full day workshop provides a step-by-step guide for how to shoot, process and print 35mm or medium format black and white film. All materials provided for: one 36 exposure roll of Kodak 400TX, chemistry and five 8-by-10-inch sheets of paper. Bring your own camera or one can be provided as a loner for the day. LANDSCAPING WITH NATIVE PLANTS WITH ZACH MERMEL

Details: This hands-on workshop gives students the chance to interact first-hand with a variety of native plants found throughout Hawaii Island’s various microclimates and learn how to integrate these plant allies into their outdoor ecosystems. MIXED MEDIA ENCAUSTIC WORKSHOP WITH MARY MILELZCIK

Where: Volcano Art Center, Niaulani Campus, 19-4074 Old Volcano Road, Volcano

Details: Hands-on workshop in which students will learn safe studio practices, all the encaustic painting basics and how to make their own medium. Wet and dry shellac burns will be demonstrated.
